What to Expect
Starting from Monsal Head, this walk quickly drops into the valley to join the River Wye, where we follow the water through beautiful dales and beneath towering limestone cliffs. Climbing up onto the hills, the views open out before we pass through the quiet village of Taddington, then loop back down to the river. A stop at Water-cum-Jolly brings waterfalls and a peaceful spot to pause before finishing back along the Wye.
We have a steep end and start through uneven woodland paths into the valley. From here it is peaceful paths along the river where again it can be uneven and muddy after rain. There is a steady hill walk out of the valley to the village with one short, steep section which we can take on slowly. The afternoon walking is on narrow river paths with a final stint on the Monsal Trail where there will be cyclists. There will be livestock throughout the walk.
