What to Expect

This is a quieter route across rugged moorland to this very popular swim spot in the Peak District. We'll bag two Ethels along the way and walk past what was once the 2nd highest pub in Britain, now a gin and whisky distillery. This is one for those that enjoy bleak and wild hill walking and a sense of adventure. Three Shires Head makes the perfect lunch spot, hopefully quieter now the summer months are over! 

This is a walk for those wanting big views without the effort. There are some steady inclines, but nothing too difficult. There is some bridletrack and quiet lane walking where we will have to watch out for bikes and horses. The footpaths are well walked and easy to follow. There will be livestock throughout. This is an area that frequently see's wetter and colder weather than other areas and we will be very exposed so please bring plenty of warm layers and waterproofs. A large chunk of the walk is through open access land that does not allow dogs year round so we need to keep strictly to the public footpath where they are allowed.
