Black Rocks is an icon of this area just outside of the Peak District. It provides amazing views and we even get to bag an Ethel on this reasonably easy walk from Cromford.

What to Expect
This October walk from Cromford is the perfect way to experience Autumn, winding from the historic canal up into the surrounding hills and woodland. The views from Black Rocks over Wirksworth and Matlock are stunning and are more than worth the climb. We bag an Ethel at Bole Hill, where Cromford Moor provides even more amazing views. Its a steady route back along the beautiful Cromford Canal, hopefully in its full autumn colours.
We'll be walking through busy Cromford initially and up the steep hill before we can get to public footpaths. It's open fields and bride tracks for the first half then a canal tow path on the way back. The tow path is used by cyclists. There may be livestock along this route. The first half is quite hilly but the second half makes up for it by being perfectly flat. We have to cross and walk along a busy road.
