What to Expect
Get you and the dogs dressed up for this special Halloween walk onto Stanton Moor. The Nine Ladies Stone Circle awaits, the legends says women are turned to stone for dancing on the Sabbath, and on dark, misty nights you can almost hear their spectral footsteps echoing across the moor. We also stop at the carved stones of Rowtor Rocks, it is said that if you sit in the carved stone armchair after midnight on Halloween you will hear the name of your true love.
We start with a little town walking before a steep walk uphill. From here its a barely noticable incline to Stanton Moor. Stanton Moor is uneven underfoot though the gritstone is nice and grippy, even where wet. Rowtor Rocks is quite an adventerous place to explore with lots of caves, steps and steep edges. There is some open field public footpaths with livestock and lots of tracks and quiet country lanes. We have to cross the road a few times
