This walk begins with a climb up Shutlingsloe, often dubbed the "Cheshire Matterhorn" for its distinctive shape and far-reaching views. From the summit, the route descends into Wildboarclough and with Autumnal lanes and field walking. Its back over to Macclesfield forest via stunning open moorland, delivering cracking views of Shutlingsloe and the surrounf Cheshire Peak District. Finish up with a reservoir stroll and maybe a pint at the pub.
Our ascent begins immedietly and we wil take it steady. She made be small but it certainly feels like we're taking on the Matterhorn. We have wide forest tracks, fields and paved footpaths. The descent is steep so care is needed. We have a steady, undulating walk along grassy footpaths. There is a mixture of footpaths, bridle tracks and forest tracks that can get busy with bikes. We cross a few quiet country lanes. The fields generally have livestock in them, sheep and cows.
