What to Expect
A May Bank Holiday walk from Cromford is the perfect way to welcome spring, winding from the historic canal up into the surrounding hills and woodland. The route blends peaceful waterside strolling with leafy climbs that reveal bursts of fresh greenery and wide-reaching views. With a cosy café stop halfway, it’s an ideal outing for a relaxed holiday adventure, beautiful scenery, gentle exploration, and a well-earned treat along the way.
We'll be walking through busy Cromford initially and up the steep hill before we can get to public footpaths. It's open fields and bride tracks for the first half then a canal tow path on the way back. The tow path is used by cyclists. There may be livestock, mainly cows along this route. The first half is quite hilly but the second half makes up for it by being perfectly flat. We have to cross and walk along a busy road.
