What to Expect
A walk from Brassington to Carsington offers a charming slice of the Derbyshire countryside, weaving through rolling fields, quiet lanes, and timeless stone villages. Along the way, sweeping views open up over Carsington Water, shimmering below the surrounding hills. With quaint settlements to explore and traditional pubs providing the perfect spot to rest and refuel, this route blends natural beauty with classic rural character, an ideal outing for walkers seeking scenery, history, and a warm welcome.
We visit two quiet villages so there will be some pavement walking. The hills are this walk are steep, especially the descent into Carsington village itself. If not for this steep way down into Carsington this walk would be rated Moderate. There is a lot of livestock along this route. We walk close to some windmills, it's safe but some dogs may be scared by these. The ground in this area can be rocky, we will be walking through fields so it's all footpaths. Some of the walk is along the High Peak Trail which cyclist use.
