What to Expect

This scenic walk begins at Longshaw Estate, climbing gently up to open moorland where wide views stretch across the Peak District. From there, the route follows the gritstone edges past Froggate and Curbar, with heather, curlews, and rocky outcrops along the way. The return through peaceful Longshaw woods offers a sheltered, tranquil contrast, a perfect blend of moorland air and woodland calm.

There's some steady ascents and descents on this walk, perfect for keeping those legs working during autumn. The ground can be very uneven and rocky along the edges and we will be passing through woodland with exposed roots. We have to cross a busy road a couple of times. The walk is along gritstone edges, we can keep as far away or as close as you like. There is usually livestock dotted around along this walk, it isn't always obvious as we will be mostly on open access land and not farmers fields.
