What to Expect
Starting from the village of Warslow, this walk packs in a surprising amount of ascent and descent as it bags three Ethels: Ecton Hill, Wetton Hill and Revidge. The constant ups and downs keep the legs working, but the effort is more than repaid with expansive views over the Manifold and Dove valleys and across the rolling limestone landscape of the White Peak. It’s a demanding but deeply rewarding route, where every climb brings a fresh perspective worth the effort.
As mentioned above there is quite a bit of ascent and descent on this walk, so quite a thigh burner. The first two ascents of the day are very steep, we will take our time. You'll be happy to know that the last ascent is a little more gradual. We'll be walking along a mixture of grassy footpaths, farm tracks and open access land. There is a little quiet road walking with a couple of busy roads to cross. There is livestock throughout on this walk, this is sheep country. We can be very exposed on the tops, so be prepared for all weathers.
