What to Expect
This scenic walk begins in the picturesque village of Baslow, leading you through the beautiful Chatsworth Estate, where sweeping parkland, ancient trees, and glimpses of the stately home create a truly classic Peak District setting. From there, the route climbs steadily onto Beeley Moor, opening up to wide, windswept views across the Derwent Valley and beyond, a perfect mix of peaceful riverside paths, rich history, and wild open moorland.
Half of the walk is spent walking through open pleasure grounds, this can get wet and muddy but this can be avoided by walking on the tarmac if necessary. The grounds are full of deer and sheep. The second half of the walk is uphill. It can seem quite steep after the flat of the morning. We take it steady through woodland then are onto open moorland where we follow a uneven track. The walk through Chatsworth woodlands is steady and level. There is a steep descent back into the pleasure grounds. We have short walk through a village and cross a couple of roads.
