What to Expect
This is a beautiful walk right up on to the moors behind the stunning Derwent Edge with views over Ladybower and over to Kinder Scout. This certianly feels like a wild walk into the middle of nowhere and a the perfect route for those wanting to get out this winter on a mini adventure.
We start with a small amount of road walking and we have to cross the busy A57. From here it is woodland and moorland footpaths all the way. It's a steady incline up to Whinstone Lee with a slightly steeper descent. The paths are wide and well walked but very uneven underfoot with loose rocks and exposed routes. We can be very exposed up here and the temperatue and winds can be quite bitter so please bring enough layers and waterproofs. There may be sheep throughout on this walk, though mostly behind fences. This is a great walk for anybody starting out wanting to take on a bit of a challenge without a great distance involved.
