What to Expect

This is an over popular route in summer for the people of South Yorkshire but we think its at its best in winter when the crowds dissapear and the cool waters reflect the winter sunshine and frost hangs on the bare trees. The bleak moors can be very beautiful even on a miserable day, atmospheric. This is a relatively easy route which should hopefully keep us from getting too muddy during the winter months.

The hills on this one are small and easily walked without having to stop. Though we can if needed! We're following wide tracks that are well walked and quiet country lanes. There is a good mixture of maintained gravel tracks, woodand and moorland walking. There will be a small section with livestock around. We're in a briefly exposed area on the moor above Langsett. This is a great walk to get started out or wanting a shorter walk to blow the cobwebs away this winter.
