What to Expect
A mini Edale Skyline adventure taking in four Ethels around the high moors above Edale. This is a big day out and one of our toughest routes, covering wild, open ground and some classic Dark Peak terrain. We’ll be bagging Lord’s Seat, Brown Knoll, Kinder Low and Grindslow Knoll along the way, linking together a fantastic high-level day with huge views and a real sense of adventure. Definitely one for those who enjoy a challenge and a proper day in the hills.
You need to be prepared for this one! I will also be quiet strict on what dogs can and can't come, especially on a hot day. We immedietly have a tough, steep ascent, we can take our time. Once we are on the tops the ascent are gradual and easy to manage. The ground underfoot will be uneven with lots of rocks and step ups at times. We will be heading into the bleak moorland of Brown Knoll which can feel very remote. Once on Kinder Scout there will be steep drops away from the path. The way down will be steep and tiring on our legs after a big day. Poles are highly recommended. There will be livestock around but not always in sight. We are very exposed on the top here, no shelter from wind, rain or blistering sunshine with no facilities on the walk to refill water. We do have a few escape routes if the going gets too tough. As I said above this could be a tough day, especially for dogs so I may recommend not bringing them unless you know they can handle a big day.
