What to Expect
This Ethel-bagging walk packs plenty of character into a short distance, taking in the rugged gritstone edges of Ramshaw Rocks and the quieter summit of Merryton Low. Along the way it passes Blake Mere, the atmospheric “Mermaid’s Pool”, adding a touch of legend and tranquillity to the route. It’s a rewarding outing that blends dramatic rock formations, open moorland and a satisfying sense of journey from one top to the next.
A wonderully steady walk, with gradual inclines. Ramshaw Rocks has some steep drops but we can keep away from the edge if nessaccary. Mostly grassy footpaths with lots of stiles. We have to cross the busy A53 twice. We walk very near to a off limits MOD area, there may be shooting in this area, we don't go into it but some dogs can get spooked. Livestock throughout.
