What to Expect
This scenic walk begins at Longshaw Estate, climbing gently up to the open moorland of White Edge, where wide views stretch across the Peak District. From there, the route follows the gritstone edges past Curbar and Froggatt, with heather, curlews, and rocky outcrops along the way. The return through peaceful Longshaw woods offers a sheltered, tranquil contrast, a perfect blend of moorland air and woodland calm.
There's some easy ascents and descents on this walk, a nice one to get those legs warmed up for a summer season of walking. The ground can be very uneven and rocky along the edges and we will be passing through woodland with exposed roots. We have to cross a busy road a couple of times. The walk is along gritstone edges, we can keep as far away or as close as you like. There is usually livestock dotted around along this walk, it isn't always obvious as we will be mostly on open access land and not farmers fields.
