What to Expect
This is a beautiful walk right up on to the moors along the stunning Derwent Edge. Our ascent feels remote and mountainous in the deep sided valley. Views over Ladybower and upward to Upper Derwent are seen the whole way. To our right we have expansive moors all the way to Sheffield with the ever lurking Kinder Scout and Bleaklow on our left.
We start with a wide track that occaisionally may have service vans on. The ascent is through a deep sided valley and care is needed to stay single file. The paths are uneven once we are off the roads and tracks. It can be very exposed along the tops, make sure you are prepared for all weathers. Dogs need to stay on lead when not on public footpaths. There will be sheep throughout this walk. It can get boggy at one section. The ascent is steady, the descent a little steeper. There is a small amount of quiet road walking near the end.
