What to Expect
This enjoyable walk starts in Rushton Spencer and climbs steadily to The Cloud, rewarding you with far-reaching views across Staffordshire and Cheshire, with Jodrell Bank visible on a clear day. Along the way we pass a Neolithic burial chamber and visit a pretty 13th-century church, adding a touch of history to this scenic countryside route.
We start on a dissued railway track which cyclist may be using. The way up the Cloud is steep and will be muddy. Once up on the Cloud there are steep drops all around. There is some quiet road walking. The fields will have livestock in. The route will be uneven and rocky throughout. There is a mixture of wooden and squeeze stiles. The burial chamber is on private land and an ancient monument but we can access it, please be respectful.
