What to Expect
Enjoy a winter’s walk from Hartington, winding through the timeless limestone valleys of Beresford Dale and Wolfscote Dale, before climbing towards the charming village of Alstonefield. Frosted meadows, quiet rivers, and rugged cliffs make this route a perfect taste of the Peak District’s winter beauty, where every turn reveals another tranquil, picture-postcard view. We can stop for a coffee half way and finish with a celebratory coffee or pint at the end.
We have a alot of bridletracks and wide gravelled footpaths to start. There is a little quiet road walking, we walk through two villages. There is one small, very steep incline which we will take slowly and steady. Public footpaths all the way back with livestock likely in the fields. The track through Beresford Dale can be slippery when wet and its uneven with roots. There is tight bridge crossing near the end of the walk. Water here can be high so care is needed, especially with water loving dogs.
