What to Expect
You don't need to travel into the depths of a National Park to complete a challenging walk and feel accomplished. This walk takes us around some of finest views of Derbyshire and loveliest villages. Though we aren't in the Peaks this is actually one of the tougher challenge walks with a lot of ascents and descents, some of them quite steep. There is a lot of historical interest to enjoy, Cromford Canal, Matlock Bath, and the home of Florence Nightingale.
We will be walking along well worn paths through farmland, up and down dales. Many of the ascents and descents can be quite steep so this is a tough one on the knees. There is a lot of stiles and squeeze stiles to over and through. The ground can get quite wet in some places after rain. There is a lot of opportunities to come off the hill and into towns and villages with public transportation. Walkers will need to be aware that we will be passing through fields with life stock so will need to act accordingly.
This a loop and is easily accessed by public transport throughout. There is a lot of facilities along the way and we are never far away from civilisation.
