What to Expect
Its a steady walk onto Stanage Edge with glorious views over Hathersage, Castlton and Edale. Things get wild as we move away from the crowds and we have lunch in one of my favourite spots in the Peaks. We finish off with a mindful stroll through a pretty woodland next to lovely stream. There is an optional detour to 'Keira Knightly Rock' as seen on Pride and Prejudice (2005).
This is a great walk for those wanting tremendous views without the big hills. There is still some steady incline with uneven ground, especally across the edge. There was some boggy sections, one area which may require some steady thought on foot placement. In the woodland there are roots and rocks and then a well made, wide path. Though it's 10 miles it is nice and steady. Along the edge we are pretty exposed so be prepared for all weathers. We have a section of road walking, though it is more likely to be used by cyclist than cars. There are two busy, main road crossings. There are a few stiles on this walk though most are beginning to be replaced by gates.
