What to Expect
The Dragons Back has become infamous amongst the influencers of social media and with no surprise. The small but steep hills of Parkhouse and Chrome Hill jut out of the earth like a beast in slumber amongst the rolling green hills. This walk takes us along a quieter route, avoiding the masses and the bum slides on Parkhouse hill. The countryside here is so green it is hard to believe. We take in two other hills that display the White Peak in all its glory and a little glimpse of the forbidding Dark Peak to the north.
This is a leg burner of a walk. Though the ascents are short they are steep. The descent off Chrome Hill can be slippy and steep in places. The rest of the walk is quite steady with a little quiet road walking. We head through open fields with livestock. This walk can get boggy, and the limestone can become very slippy when wet so please be aware of foot placement.
